University of Illinois Application Results
University of Illinois (U of I) will release later today (Friday, December 11 at 5:00pm Central Time) admission results. All student applicants will be getting the decisions from the admissions office whether they are accepted, deferred or denied .
Deferred: When reading applications, the admissions office must make decisions based on the space availability in colleges and programs on campus. Since some students apply during the priority period and others in the regular period, we cannot make a final admissions decision on some priority applicants because we do not know how many students will apply for admission by the final deadline of January 2. Thus, in order to make the best admission decision, we defer some students to the regular decision period so we can see the entire applicant pool before making final decisions. In the past, over 50% of deferred students have eventually been admitted to the University of Illinois.
Denied: We realize being denied is always a difficult decision to receive. Every application has gone through an extensive review and a variety of information is considered, including academics, extra-curricular involvement, and information provided in essays. Admission to the University of Illinois is very competitive and a decision to deny a student is only reached after a thorough review by the admissions committee. If you still want to attend the University of Illinois, there is always the opportunity to apply later as a transfer student. It is not uncommon for students who have been denied as freshman applicants to be admitted as transfer students after one or two years of strong academic performance at another college or university.
